For our first week's camp for a number of years we decided to join forces with the 9th Bramshill and camp at Buddens Farm which is the Dorset county camp site situated between Wareham and Dorchester.

We were using our traditional Scout ridge tents as our cub pack was using the new Vango 500s at a District Cub camp at Wellingtoin Country Park.

At the Scout HQ on Saturday morning

It was a Bank Holiday weekend and of course the journey down took twice as long!
At least the weather was fine and we put up the tents, marquee and store in a good time.

We were cooking and eating in Patrols and everybody was eager to 'have a go'. As the leader were also eating in Patrols we had a vested interest in what happened!! On the whole the standard of catering was excellent and everybody rated the meals out of ten. Even the caterers scored their own cooking - and they were remarkable honest about their achievements!

The first few days were spent on camp. On Monday the older Scouts went out for a hike and the rest of us practiced our map and compass work and our pioneering skills.

At this point you hope you've got your clove hitches and lashings tied correctly because the time was up for construction.
And what a great job it turned out to be!

Later in the week we went to Corfe Castle.

This is a Nationl Trust property and they were reinacting of the life of a Barber Surgeon in the 17th century. We had all of the gory details of how to amputate an arm and how they went about blood-letting. One way was to use a leech and this is a picture of NOSEY the leech (it's the one in the bottle). The boys were fascinated!
