As part of our fair trade survey we have a blind tasting of a FairTrade product. This term we choose Drinking Chocolate. We asked the Scouts to rate four brands and then try to identify the FAIRTRADE brand The survey found that the majority of the stores promotions was aimed at selling Fairtrade Cotton products. Although this was complimentary to our own focus for 2007 it was at the expense of the Fairtrade fruit products.
The Fairtrade Survey is SO popular with our Scouts they turn up even if they do have a broken arm!!
BENEFITS A case-study shows how Fairtrade sales can benefit Third World farmers and their community. The case-study is based on interviews with a group of banana farmers and workers in the Dominican Republic. The benefits they describe come from just 2 years sales to the UK Fairtrade market. The interviews were recorded for Fairtrade Fortnight in 2002. Go HERE to read more |
